Independence Day Celebrated in KMC Hospitals

KARACHI- Similar to every year, Sindh Government and Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) run health facilities of Karachi celebrated Nation’s 71st Independence Day with patriotic fervor on 14th August.

Flag hoisting ceremonies were organized in Dr. Ruth Pfau Civil Hospital Karachi (CHK), Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC), Abbasi Shaheed Hospital, National Institute of Child Health, National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases, Sindh Government Lyari General Hospital, Karachi, Spencer Eye Hospital and other associated health facilities.

At Civil Hospital Karachi, Medical Superintendent, Dr. Muhammad Tofique and Deputy Commissioner South, Syed Salahuddin Ahmed hoisted the flag.

The students, doctors, nurses, paramedical staff and representatives of Paramedics Organizations participated in the ceremony. The national anthem was melodiously sung by everyone, following a cake cutting ceremony.

Similarly, a ceremony was held at JPMC, on the eve of Independence Day, followed by a walk, which was participated by a large number of general public, patients, students and the employees of the health facility.

Congratulating everyone on the joyous occasion, Executive Director, JPMC, Dr. Seemin Jamali said that, students and young doctors should remember the sacrifices of their ancestors for Pakistan, and that prosperity of the country is now linked to the younger generation.

Furthermore, the staff and students presented a cultural program featuring patriotic songs and dances. The celebrations concluded with distribution of certificates.

A flag hoisting ceremony was also held at Spencer Eye Hospital.

Senior Director, Medical and Health Services Department of Karachi Metropolitan Corporation, Dr. Birbal Genani and MPA Ramzan Ghanchi were guests of honour.

Principal, Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto Medical College, Lyari, Prof Dr. Anjum Rehman and Medical Superintendent, Lyari General Hospital, Dr. Khadim Qureshi jointly hoisted Pakistani flag at Lyari Hospital in connection of Independence Day.
