KARACHI: The expanded section of Karachi Institute of Heart Diseases (KHID) could not be made functional due to unavailability of doctors and skilled staff despite the lapse of several months.
An administrative official of Karachi Institute of Heart Diseases (KHID) told that construction work of phase-II section was completed in 2009.The Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah and Sindh Minister for Local Government Syed NasirHussain Shah had formally inaugurated the new section of hospital in the month of November 2015 but section is still non-functional due to non-availability of oxygen facility, doctors and other technical staff.
The new section comprises of 52 private rooms out of which four are VIP rooms where LCD, fridge, air-conditioners, costly equipments had been installed at the time of inauguration but it is yet to be made functional.
When Contacted, Executive Director, Karachi Institute of Heart Diseases (KIHD), Prof Syed ZahidRasheed said hospital administration is unable to make the section operational due to lack of funds and unavailability of doctors.
He said hospital administration has brought the issue into the notice of KMC high ups and hope that new section will open for public very soon.
