Chikungunya cases spike in Sindh: Health Minister warns

KARACHI: Health Minister of Sindh, Dr. Azra Fazal Pechuho, announced that 140 PCR tests for Chikungunya cases have come back positive this year.
At a press conference, she noted improvements in the malaria situation across Sindh. However, she highlighted issues at Lyari General Nursing Hospital, where admissions were made using fake domiciles. "We will conduct a thorough review of these fake domiciles," she stated.
Pechuho also addressed objections regarding a milk bank established in Korangi, mentioning discussions with the Chairman of NADRA about regulatory concerns. She emphasized that the federal cabinet has the authority to amend existing rules and confirmed that a letter has been sent to the Prime Minister regarding this issue.
"The current challenges in legislation at the federal level need resolution before changes to the rules and regulations can be made," she explained, adding that discussions have also taken place with the Council of Islamic Ideology on this matter.
