From jan 1 TO sept 17, 2015 - 1,440 dengue cases detected in Karachi

KARACHI- At least 1,486 dengue fever cases were detected in various parts of Sindh in around nine months of the current year.

Data released by the provincial Dengue Prevention & Control Programme showed that of the total 1,486 dengue fever cases detected in the province (from Jan 1 to Sept 17, 2015) , 1,440 were reported from Karachi alone, besides three lives claimed by the disease, so far, were also reported from the metropolis.


Giving break-up of the dengue fever cases reported in the current year, so far, sources said that of the total 1,486 cases detected across the province, 1,440 were reported from Karachi, 19 from Hyderabad, seven from Larakana, four from Mirpurkhas, three each from Shaheed Benazirabad and Thatta, two each from Sukkur, Ghotki and Umer Kot and one each from Sanghar, Shikarpur, Matiari and Jaccobabad.


Most of the dengue fever cases reported from Karachi belonged to different parts of the city’s district West such as Metroville, Orangi and Baldia; district Central’s North Nazimabad and North Karachi; district East’s Gulshan-e-Iqbal and Jamshed Town and parts of Defence Housing Authority, whereas addresses of over 200 dengue fever patients have not yet been verified, they added.


In addition to this, 104 more dengue fever cases were detected in the last three days across the province and 99 of them were reported from Karachi, three  from Hyderabad and one each from Umer Kot and Matiari.
