MADRID: Monkeypox, a viral virus rarely seen in Europe, has been found in Spain and Portugal, with both outbreaks in Madrid and Lisbon, officials said.

Transmission of Monkey Pox

The most common method of transmission is through intimate contact with infected animals, such as rats and monkeys. In very few instances, it has been fatal.

The UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) has discovered four new instances, a public health agency since three cases were found in May.

According to the report, men who have had sex with another man or self-identify as gay or bisexual constituted all four of the new cases.
