KARACHI: The Pakistan Medical Association (PMA) is deeply distressed over the continuous barbaric bombardment on civilian apartments by Israeli fighter jets in Gaza resulting in a large number of casualties, including children and women. So far approximately 200 Palestinians have been killed including 85 children and 34 women. More than 1300 people have been wounded in these brutal attacks.

Secretary-General, Pakistan Medical Association (Centre), Dr S M Qaisar Sajjad, in his statement, said that the rising tension has created a human and health calamity. The International Committee of the Red Cross has called for rapid, safe and unimpeded movement for ambulances, doctors, paramedics, other hospital staff, clinic staff and volunteers for the provision of medical services. This statement indicates the deteriorating health situation in Gaza.

In this regard, the PMA has written a letter to the Director-General, World Health Organization, to take notice of the health emergency at Gaza so that the injured and sick people could be treated smoothly.
