Comprehensive drive against children’s stunted growth

Karachi:The Sindh Health Department, in  collaboration with World Bank, will launch a comprehensive drive for children suffering from stunt (a disease that prevents  children from growing and developing properly) in nine districts of Sindh and for this purpose Sindh Health Department, Finance Department and other departments concerned will submit proposals  to World Bank in March.

This was decided in a meeting chaired by Health Minister Jam Mehtab Hussain Dahar. Finance Minister for Sindh Syed Murad Ali Shah, Secretary Health Saeed Ahmed Mangnejo, Secretary Finance Sohail Ahmed Rajput and ACS P&D Aijaz Ahmed Khan also attended the meeting.

Health Minister lauded the role of World Bank in providing health care facilities to the people of Sindh and expressed his hope that World Bank would contribute technical and logistic support in making the proposed drive a success.

Jam Mehtab said it is really the best investment to improve the nutrition of the mother and children from birth to two years. He also directed secretary health to form joint monitoring teams of health department, World Bank and USAID so as to keep an eye on thedepartmentperformance of the on-going projects.
