KARACHI - The construction work of 400 bed Gulshan e Iqbal Hospital has not finished yet despite the passage of more than eight years  due to lathery and apathy of Sindh Government.

The project has been delayed again and again due to apathy of Works and Services Department of Sindh and concerned contractor. The ground plus three story building of hospital has been divided in several blocks. The construction work of Block-A and Block-B and Block-C had almost completed. However, construction work of Block-D and Block-E is in beginning stages, while administrative block is in initial stages.

Sources at Sindh Health Department informed news media that the construction work of 400 bed Gulshan e Iqbal Hospital, Karachi, was started in May 19, 2009 with cost of Rs 436.356 million which was supposed to be completed 2012-13 but PC-I of project was revised on May 15, 2014 again with increased cost Rs 1736.359million. The project was likely to complete in the end of 2016 but only 50 to 55 per cent work had been done so far due to the slow pace of work.
