KP health dept increases staff at Bacha Khan airport for mpox screening

PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa health department will deploy seven more doctors and eight technicians at the Bacha Khan International Airport to ensure stricter screening of passengers arriving from abroad to check entry and spread of monkeypox into the country.  
Health Secretary Adeel Shah, issued these directions during his recent visit to the airport, along with Director-General Health Dr. Muhammad Saleem. They also visited and Police Services Hospital to assess the arrangements for mpox screening and isolation.
At the airport, the health secretary reviewed the screening protocols and received a detailed briefing from Mian Fayazuddin, In charge of Border Health Services. 
He emphasized strict screening of travelers arriving from foreign countries and inspected the isolation ward established for mpox patients. 
At the Police Services Hospital, Mr Shah was given a detailed briefing by Medical Superintendent Dr. Niaz. Shah, stressing the importance of strict implementation of safety measures and ensuring that suspected patients are provided with all necessary facilities. 
He added that isolation wards are being activated at the district level to curb the spread of mpox and assured the public that every possible facility would be provided.
