KARACHI- Young Doctor’s Association (YDA), Sindh, staged a protest demonstration and  boycotted the duties at Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC), over lodging an FIR against Dr. Usman, by a patient attendant, leading to a scuffle between doctors and attendants. The protest demonstration badly affected patient care at JPMC.

The visiting and admitted patients who belong to Karachi and some from other areas of the Province had to suffer, as the Out-Patient Departments remained suspended due to the protest.

Chairman, Young Doctors Association, Sindh , Dr. Omer Sultan, stated that, complete boycott was observed at JPMC over the FIR incident and due to a few other unmet demands. He said that the young doctors will continue their protest, till the withdrawal of FIR, increase in health professional allowance, house rent & stipend, and regularization of PPHI project doctors and other contract doctors.

Executive Director, Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC),  Dr. Seemin Jamali, informed that the young doctors went against medical ethics and forcefully closed the OPDs of the hospital. She further added that the trainee young doctors should avoid such unprofessional practices which bring about a bad name to the hospital and the medical profession.
