KARACHI - This was stated by Dr Tanveer Ahmed Associate professor &Consultant Thoracic surgeon, JSMU Karachi during health session of savior club on Jimmy’s message “Don’t Prick iv bottle it can spread hepatitis” organized by Otsuka Pakistan in Karachi.


Dr Tanveer said that patient safety with ethical medical practice is very important because spreading of many deadly disease are due to poor sterilization and hospital acquired infection. Dr Tanveer said that poor mechanism of sterilization, destruction of syringes and hospital waste can reduce the risks of needle injury and spreading of deadly diseases like hepatitis. He said that spreading of deadly diseases are due to lack of mechanism of hospital waste management on districts and tehsil level and poor hygienic condition and environment. He said that poor nursing care and shortages of paramedical staff is the cause to increase the incidents of needle injury. Dr Tanveer said that these incidents are preventable if we follow the rules and regulations of international standards.   He said that low price concept in health care sector is also cause of human loss. Many incidents occur in due to substandard products and devices. He said that effort to promote quality conscious concept especially in health and food sector should be focus. Dr Tanveer appreciate the efforts of savior club to promote awareness against hepatitis, and acknowledge the results. He said that reuse of syringes are also a cause of spreading hepatitis.


He said that iv fluid therapy is very important for recovery after surgical procedure. He appreciate the new composition and highlight the hazards of cocktails additions/composition on spot to maintain the balance of electrolytes and nutrition for early recovery. He said and thanks to Otsuka to provide the new


composition on scientific basis to medical community specially in ICU and  emergency. He said that new products with new composition under the international guide line for the balance electrolyte are the great service for medical community from Otsuka. Dr Tanveer suggest that awareness for the nursing and other hospital staff should be in the wards of public sector hospitals.
