Dubai: Under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, UAE Minister of Finance and President of Dubai Health Authority, the 7th Emirates Otorhinolaryngology Audiology and Communication Disorders Congress (EROC) kick started today at the InterContinental Hotel, Festival City.
The Emirates Otorhinolaryngology Audiology and Communication Disorders Congress is held in collaboration with the French ENT Society contributing the finest speakers and experts in high-precision specializations to add more value to the Congress.
The conference was inaugurated in the presence of H.E. Humaid Al Qatami, Chairman of the Board and Director-General of the Dubai Health Authority and a number of senior health leaders. More than 2000 participants are taking part in the conference.
In the opening speech of the conference by Chairman of the Board and Director-General of the Dubai Health Authority, Al Qatami said: “It goes without saying that ENT is an instrumental specialty in medicine and surgery, interlaced with various domains and diseases, both communicable and non-communicable. Our day-to-day practice, and the health challenges faced by our society, highlight the importance of continued research and development in the medical field. It also highlights the importance of adopting innovation in medical technology, both in diagnosis and management. This becomes even more important in the ENT field, especially with the great impact ENT diseases have on productivity and individual capabilities.”
Al Qatami further added, The repeated advisories issued by the World Health Organization concerning ENT diseases, and the various alarming studies and research papers by several renowned centers and institutions, that ENT diseases leading to serious conditions, indicate the importance of this domain, and the pivotal role played by ENT specialists. At Dubai Health Authority, we grant every medical specialty the due attention. We recognize the serious nature of every disease, especially those with genetic predisposition, or those linked to a fast mutating virus.
Dr. Hussain Abdulrahman Al Rand, the Congress President, commented: “the 7th Emirates Otorhinolaryngology Audiology and Communication Disorders Congress will discuss a wide range of topics covering all ear, nose and throat health issues whether they be cosmetic or health-related, in addition to featuring the latest technologies and methodologies in this regard. Topics will range from using endoscopic technology in nose and sinuses surgeries, to endoscopic endonasal skull base surgery using surgical navigation, to speech disorders and ingestion difficulties. This year, the congress and workshops is accredited by Dubai Health Authority, Ministry of Health and Saudi Commission for Health Specialities.
He further expressed gratitude towards the UAE Ministry of Health, Dubai Health Authority and Emirates Medical Association and the Organizing Committee for their continued support to the conference.
The congress will be attended by ENT specialists, Otologists, Speech Pathologists, Audiologists, Neurologists, Otolaryngologists, ENT Surgeons, Otorhinolaryngologists, Rhinoplasty Surgeons, Endoscopic Surgeons, Phoniatricians and other Allied Health Professionals.
