Stressing the need for raising awareness and implementing comprehensive strategies to curb cardiovascular diseases in Pakistan, President Asif Ali Zardari has called for measures to mandate the display of health advisories showing the sugar content in carbonated and sugary beverages.
Addressing a delegation from the Pakistan National Heart Association (PANAH), led by its President retired Maj Gen Masud-ur-Rehman, at Aiwan-e-Sadr, the president highlighted the urgency of educating citizens on adopting healthier lifestyles to mitigate heart diseases.
Expressing concern over the rising incidence of cardiovascular ailments, President Zardari underscored the necessity for a program for heart and other non-communicable disease prevention.
During the meeting, the PANAH delegation briefed the president on the organization's efforts to disseminate information about heart diseases and their associated risk factors among the people. The delegation also outlined the association’s efforts to prevent, minimize, and manage fatalities resulting from angina, heart failure, and heart attacks.
The delegation further elucidated PANAH's mission to provide training on recognizing cardiac arrest and administering Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) to save lives. It highlighted PANAH's assistance to victims of natural disasters, as well as their healthcare services for underprivileged patients and children.
President Zardari commended PANAH for its efforts in promoting cardiac health and advocating for healthier lifestyles. He pledged his full support to PANAH in their fight against cardiovascular diseases and efforts to ensure public well-being.
