NICVD, DUHS sign MoU on Health Professions Education Certificate course

Karachi: A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases (NICVD) and Dow University of Health Sciences (DUHS) to introduce a certificate training course in Health Professions Education at NICVD, scheduled to commence in August this year.

The signing ceremony witnessed the presence of DUHS Vice Chancellor, Prof. Mohammad Saeed Quraishy; Executive Director of NICVD, Prof. Tahir Saghir; DUHS Pro-Chancellor Prof. Nazli Hussain; Registrar Dr. Ashar Afaq; Executive Director of SICVD, Prof. Jawaid Akbar Sial; Prof. Amin Khuwaja, Head of Anesthesia Department at NICVD; Director of Postgraduate Medical Education, Dr. Kanwal Fatima Aamir; Dr. Abdul Sattar Shaikh, Associate Professor and Head of Department of Paeds Cardiology; and Director of Dow Institute of Health Professionals Education (DIHPE), Dr. Farhan Saeed Vakani, among others.

The MoU, signifying the collaborative effort, was officially sealed by Dow University Registrar Dr. Ashar Afaq, and NICVD Executive Director Prof. Tahir Saghir, with the exchange of documents.

Prof. Muhammad Saeed Quraishy, the Vice-Chancellor, emphasized the significance of the course, now declared mandatory by the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PM&DC). He highlighted the course's objective to empower medical faculty as educators and enhance the teaching competencies of physicians.

Prof. Tahir Saghir lauded the DIHPE for earning a great reputation in the region and affirmed NICVD's collaboration with the institute.

DIHPE Director Dr. Farhan Saeed Vakani announced the initiation of preparations for the inaugural batch of 25 health professionals at NICVD.

The DIHPE stands as a premier institution, offering comprehensive education to healthcare professionals in the region.
