IUB hosts seminar on pharmacists’ registration in Australia

BAHAWALPUR: The Department of Pharmaceutics, Faculty of Pharmacy at the Islamia University of Bahawalpur (IUB) organized an informative seminar titled "Pharmacist Registration Journey in Australia" to guide aspiring pharmacists through the process of registering themselves in Australia, exam preparation and job prospects in the field.

Addressing the participants, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Akhtar of the Department of Pharmaceutics and the main organizer of the event, outlined its objectives. Prof. Dr. Saeed Ahmed, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Allied Health Sciences, delivered the welcome address.

Prof Dr Naveed Akhtar, Vice-Chancellor and Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy, commended the initiative, emphasizing the importance of such seminars in enlightening pharmacists about career opportunities abroad.

Pakistan's High Commissioner Zahid Hafeez, joined the event online from Australia, underscored the significance of professional development and highlighted the opportunities available for Pakistani pharmacists there. Former High Commissioner of Pakistan in Australia and Norway, Babar Amin, also delivered a brief lecture.

Information regarding the registration process, KAPS test preparation, and job opportunities in Australia was provided by Waqas Ashraf, Director and Consultant Pharmacist at Amcal Pharmacy, Belconnen, Australia, and Nilum Saba, Director and Pharmacist at Terry White Chemmart Pharmacy, Belconnen, Australia.

The seminar served as a platform for pharmacists to gain comprehensive knowledge about pursuing their careers in Australia and fostered a spirit of international collaboration in the field of pharmacy.
