LAHORE: The Punjab government’s special anti-dengue teams have traced dengue larvae at 21 locations in the provincial capital, raising concerns regarding an outbreak of the disease.

Under the special directives of Lahore Deputy Commissioner Rafia Haider, dengue teams have been re-activated for field monitoring and elimination of larvae on the spot.

According to a spokesman for the DC office, 21 cases were confirmed, while dengue larvae were destroyed at 1,913 places in the city during the same period.

DC Rafia Haider emphasized that in addition to field teams, allied departments have also been involved in indoor and outdoor surveillance. Checking of vacant plots, containers, indoor coolers, garbage dumps, and water tanks is being ensured to trace and destroy dengue larvae.

"Immediate actions are being taken wherever dengue larvae are found, and dengue teams focus on hotspots and high-risk areas for special coverage," she added.

The DC urged citizens to cooperate with the anti-dengue teams and advised them to keep their homes, surroundings, and outdoor environments clean and tidy.
