Heatwave situation will be worse on May 18th in Pakistan

KARACHI: According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department's weather report, the country will experience another extreme heatwave on May 18th.

There's a good chance that this week's hot weather will persist across most of the country.

Some relief is likely in most parts of Pakistan from 14th to 17th May due to dust storms and gusty winds, as well as sporadic rain-thunderstorms, the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has predicted.

According to the forecast, daytime temperatures are expected to rise from May 18th (Wednesday).

Heatwave in Pakistan

Sindh's severe heatwave is expected to continue today, with the maximum temperature expected to reach 48-50 degrees Celsius in Dadu, Sukkur, Larkana, Jacobabad, Shikarpur, Khairpur, Qambar-Shahdadkot, and Nawabshah districts, 44-46 degrees Celsius in Hyderabad, Mirpurkhas, Umerkot, Sanghar, and Tharparker districts, and 40-42 degrees Celsius in Thatta and Badin districts.

As of 15-17 May, the heatwave is expected to ease slightly, but it is expected to return with a vengeance from May 18th onward in central and upper Sindh.

Today and tomorrow will see highs of 38-40 degrees Celsius in Karachi. Today, temperatures soared above 40 degrees Celsius in parts of Sindh, Punjab, and Balochistan.

There is a chance of rain in Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Gilgit-Baltistan, as well as strong winds and dust storms in the central and southern provinces today.
