JSMU academic council okays template for MPhil programmes

KARACHI: The 35th meeting of the Jinnah Sindh Medical University (JSMU) Academic Council approved the Postgraduate Program Specifications Template-2024 for M.Phil. programs in Anatomy, Biochemistry, Pharmacology, and Physiology, as well as Ph.D. programs in Biochemistry and Pharmacology.

The meeting held under the leadership of JSMU Vice Chancellor Prof Amjad Siraj Memon underscored the importance of adhering to the Academic Calendar and reconstituted the Board of Faculty (BoF) for Basic Medical Sciences and the Board of Studies (BoS) for various departments within Sindh Medical College (SMC).

In addition, the council sanctioned core and elective courses for the Ph.D. program in Dental Health Sciences and ratified minutes from the BoS meetings for the APPNA Institute of Public Health and several SMC departments.

The endorsement of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between JSMU and Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) was also confirmed.

The council appointed Prof Dr. Sono Mal as chairperson of the Forensic Medicine & Toxicology Department, while Prof Dr. Tafazzul Hyder was confirmed as chairperson of Community Medicine.

The meeting, organized by the registrar office, included participation from senior university officials, including Registrar Dr. Azam Khan and other key administrators.
