KARACHI: SGH garbage is being dumped on surrounding streets, posing a health risk to the local population and casting doubt on the government of Sindh's grandiose boasts about offering medical facilities of international grade.
Dr Salman on condition of SGH
A shortage of resources at Sindh Government Hospital Liaquatabad (SGH)'s information desk was cited by Dr Salman, the hospital's Additional Medical Superintendent.
Medical waste is delivered to the District Health Office because the hospital does not have an incinerator, according to Dr Salman (DHO). However, a tour of the hospital reveals that medical waste is not consistently disposed of.
Drug users were spotted freely picking up old needles for injecting narcotics on the streets surrounding the SGH.
People who are addicted to drugs may inadvertently spread diseases including hepatitis, HIV, and AIDS through the reuse of syringes that have been thrown away.
