KARACHI: In a concerning development, six passengers arriving at Jinnah International Airport in Karachi from foreign countries have tested positive for the new Covid-19 variant JN.1 Omicron, according to the Sindh Health Department.
The rapid antigen tests conducted at Jinnah International Airport revealed the positive cases among the incoming travelers. These six individuals, hailing from various regions including Swat, Mirpur, Rahim Yar Khan, Charsadda, and Jacobabad, have been confirmed to be infected with the JN.1 variant of the virus.
The health department stated that these passengers were promptly tested for possible Covid-19 symptoms upon their arrival.
This recent development has raised the total count of JN.1 variant cases in Karachi to 15, marking a growing concern for health authorities in the region.
