KARACHI- Isra University organized its 3rd convocation in its Karachi Campus, in which 214 graduates were awarded degrees from various departments.
At the convocation, 158 received degrees for Bachelor in Medical Sciences, Vision Sciences and Physical Therapy, whereas 56 post-graduate degrees were awarded in different programs of medical and allied medical sciences.
Addressing students as the chief guest at the convocation, Sindh Governor Mohammad Zubair highlighted the importance of education and said that learning is a life-long process that continues from the cradle to the grave. He urged the students to be competitive and participative to extend their knowledge. "There can be no development without participation, and there can be no participation without communication in this age of digital literacy," he said.
The governor said: “I am glad to be here this morning amidst you to preside over the 3rd Convocation of Isra University Campus in Karachi. Let me inform you that I am fully aware of the tremendous development, which this privately owned University at Hyderabad with its two more campuses at Karachi and Islamabad has made over a period of the last 19 years, since its inception in 1997.”
He said that everything changes with time. We live in an age of innovation and change, and in such an age, the universities have a special obligation. They must hold fast to the best of the past, and do more for the best of the future.”
“Globalization is on us, whether we like it or not, we have to get ready for this. It is like the river that has burst its banks. The only way for us to survive is to learn swimming or else we will be drowned. The earlier we learn to realize the truth of the matter, the better it is for us.”
He advised the students to work hard to achieve your goals. “I want you to become great, as we have high hopes in you. You are the leaders of tomorrow, so get yourself ready to address the challenges of the future. Stay in touch with what is happening in the country.”
The governor congratulated all the graduating students for the hard work they had put in successful completion of their degrees. Let me, once again, remind you of your goal as educated citizens. You must uphold the image of our country. Let the world know that we are a peaceful nation. We will uphold the image, which the founders of this nation had worked so hard, to build.
The governor has also invited the highest ranked students at the Governor House for the dinner with their parents and teaching faculty.
Prof Dr Asadullah Kazi, Chancellor, Isra University in his address said this day marks the commencement of your new carrier. You must confidence in yourself. I am sure that each one of you had different dreams, but surly you should never give up your dreams and aspirations. Dr Kazi said those aspirations will drive you to higher levels of achievements.
Prof Dr Ghulam Qadir Kazi, Vice Chancellor, Isra University in his address said that the main purpose of such events is not only to confer degrees on the students but also to honor those who have performed meritoriously.
In his address, he also shared the tremendous progress shown by Isra University and the various achievements made over the years. In his closing remarks, he congratulated the graduating students and expressed his good wishes for their future endeavors.
