More than 2000 students receive degrees at Dow's 12th convocation

KARACHI: Degrees were distributed to more than 2000 students at the 12th convocation of Dow University. Internationally renowned transplant two surgeons

Vice-Chancellor of Dow University of Health Sciences Prof Muhammad Saeed Quraishy addressed the ceremony as the Chief guest “The world is transforming, space is no longer the mysterious inaccessible secret expanse there are real images of Mars that can be found immediately, a probe near the sun. Chairperson Convocation Committee Prof Saba Sohail and Dr Zeba Haq, Secretary also spoke on the occasion. Registrar Dr Ashar Afaq administered the Oath of serving to the humanity without any discrimination from the students

Vice Chancellor Prof Muhammad Saeed Quraishy said that Dow University has prepared a batch of more than 2,000 doctors, dentists and other health professionals to perform duties in the health sector. He said that the DUHS is recognized among the top 600 universities around the world due to the combined effort of the faculty and international networking. Since the inception of Dow University of Health Sciences, it is the first time we have conferred an Honorary degree to those who are eminent achievers nationally and internationally and one of them being a Dow alumnus.

He further said that the Services and quality of education of Dow University have been appreciated at the national and international level. It is commendable that teachers and students continued their journey of education without compromising on quality in every difficult situation. He urged the students that apart from being a good doctor, you also have to be a good human being. He said that awarding two honorary degrees and four PhD degrees is a matter of pride for the university. He thanked everyone associated with the organization, who kept the organization on the path of development. Prof. Saeed Quraishy said that Dow University has always played a key role in the development of medical education.
He was grateful to all the parents who reposed their faith in Dow University.

A total of 2,082 degrees were awarded at the 12th annual convocation of Dow University of Health Sciences, out of which two international transplant surgeons received honorary degrees of Doctor of Science (DSC). The ceremony was held recently at the  Cricket Stadium, Ojha Campus. Prof Muhammad Saeed Quraishy, Vice Chancellor, Dow University presented the degree as chief guest. 


In addition, 37 gold silver and 37 bronze medals were awarded respectively for securing the first second and third positions among 111 students of different fields.

During the convocation informative documentary based on the services of DUHS educational and Advanced Health Care and Welfare services or achievement was shown.
Convocation was held for the constituent college and institutions of DUHS that includes, Dow Medical College (DMC), OJHA Institute of Chest Disease (OICD), Dow Dental college (DDC), DOW International Medical College (DIMC), Dow International Dental College (DIDC), Dow College of Pharmacy (DCOP), Dr Ishrat ul Ebad Khan Institute of Oral health Sciences (DIKIOHS), National Institute of Diabetes and Endocrinology (NIDE), Institute of Nursing and Midwifery (IONM), Institute of Medical Technology (IMT), Institute of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (IPMR), Institute of Business & Health Management (IBHM), School of Public Health (SPH), Dow Institute of Radiology (DIR), Dow college of Bio-technology (DCOB) and Institute of Bio-Medical Sciences(IBMS).
