ISLAMABAD: The National Hemp Policy was drafted by the Federal Ministry of Science and Technology and presented to the federal cabinet for approval.
Shibli Faraz, Minister for Federal Science and Technology, recently stated that the federal government would give permits to 100 enterprises to grow hemp so that the country could join the billion-rupee worldwide Hemp industry under the initiative.
He stated that the administration was getting a flood of applications requesting permission to cultivate hemp.
According to Shibi Garaz, hemp production and products, particularly in the fields of medicine and agriculture, had a global market worth Rs100 billion by 2026, and the government wants to be a part of it.
It was further reported that the government sought to establish hemp regulating authority under the National Policy, which would commence its one-window operations after the confirmation. Boundary fences and security cameras would be necessary for hemp fields.
