To mark the
World Physical Therapy Day, the Institute of
Physiotherapy & Rehabilitation Sciences, Liaqaut University of Medical & Health Sciences Jamshoro arranged a “Public Awareness walk” at Jamshoro Campus.
While addressing the participants the Vice Chancellor LUMHS Prof. Noshad A. Shaikh expressed that evidence shows that people who stay active are more likely to keep working, engaging in society and enjoying life, the
physiotherapists have a vital role in helping them do so at every stage of life. This is the message that thousands of
physiotherapists are sending out on
World Physical Therapy Day which falls on 8th of September every year. The day is an opportunity for
physiotherapists from all over the world to raise awareness about the crucial contribution the profession makes to keeping people well, mobile and independent.
He added that the profession of
physiotherapy helps millions of people every year to prevent and manage the effects of non communicable diseases, along with the effects of inactive lifestyles, aging, illness, accidents, and the stresses and strains of life.
The Chief Guest Senior Minister Mr. Nisar Ahmad Khuhro expressed that
physiotherapists are experts in developing and maintaining people’s ability to move and function throughout their lives. With an advanced understanding of how the body moves and what keeps it from moving well, they promote wellness, mobility and independence. They treat and prevent many problems caused by pain, illness, disability and disease, sport and work related injuries, ageing and inactivity.
He added that government will consider creating the posts of
Physiotherapists in Basic Health Units of the Province.
The Vice Chancellor Prof. Noshad A. Shaikh was honored by The Institute of
Physiotherapy by awarding a Gold Medal in recognition of his services in promoting the Health Education.
