10th Meeting of the IHR Emergency Committee concerning MERS coronavirus

The World Health Organization (WHO) convened the tenth Emergency Committee (EC) concerning Middle

East respiratory syndrome coronavirus (MERS-CoV), under the International Health Regulations (IHR) (2005).

The objectives of this tenth meeting include: Provide advice on whether the current MERS CoV event constitutes a Public Health Emergency of International Concern; Provide technical updates on the epidemiology of MERS-CoV; and Provide advice on appropriate public health measures for national or international implementation.

The meeting was held recently by teleconference. A WHO statement giving an account of the meeting and its conclusions will be posted on the WHO public website.
