KARACHI- The first consultative meeting of various Health experts with the Task Force was held today, at Sindh Secretariat, to discuss Civil Services Reforms and pointers regarding the restructuring of Sindh’s Health Sector.
The Task Force was constituted upon the directives of Chief Minister Sindh, Syed Murad Ali to bring about reforms within the health sector. It was a ten-members team comprising of VC DUHS, Prof Dr. Saeed Qureshi; Director National Institute of Child Health(NICH), Syed Jamal Raza; Director General Health Sindh, Dr. Mubeen; Medical Superintendent, Lyari General Hospital, Dr. Khadim Qureshi; Project Director, Expanded Program on Immunization(EPI) Dr. Zahoor Baloch; Secretary HOTA, Dr. Aijaz Khanzada; OSD Health Department, Dr. Sikandar Memon; Additional Director Health Services, Dr. Nadeem Sheikh; District Officer, Curative Dr. Arif Rashid Khan; and Sindh Blood Transfusion Authority, Dr. Aftab Mallah.
The meeting, at the Secretariat, was chaired by Vice Chancellor Dow University of Health Sciences (DUHS), Prof Dr. Saeed Qureshi. The health experts gave their suggestions, to bring about changes within the Health Department, particularly to implement improvement in patient care and nursing care.
They also discussed about how to make non-functional health facilities operational, the current status of the health department, assessment of failed projects being run by the department, to fix mismanagement within the health sector, timely provision of medicines to the patients, role of health care managers.
All the above mentioned issues, alongside other important matters were discussed in the meeting, with theTask Force for Civil Services Reforms.
