LAHORE: The Government of Punjab allocated Rs 172.55 billion for healthcare.

PMLN government in Punjab allocated the healthcare budget of Rs 172.55 Billion

Sardar Awais Leghari, MPA of PMLN, presented Punjab's budget for the fiscal year 2022-23 during the budget session chaired by Deputy Speaker Dost Mohammad Mazari and held in Aiwan-i-Iqbal in Lahore. 

Another session was chaired by  Parvez Elahi took place simultaneously at the provincial assembly.

After the government and opposition failed to overcome their disagreements, parallel sessions were convened. Probably for the first time, different sessions of the Punjab Assembly were held concurrently. Due to a stalemate between the provincial government and the speaker, the budget was delivered two days after the Punjab Assembly session began for the purpose. The overall budget was of Rs3,226 billion.

The government committed a substantial amount of Rs685bn for the Annual Development Programme (ADP), with an emphasis on pro-poor programs and inflation management. 
No new taxes have been added to the budget.


In terms of development sectors, the social sector received the largest allocation of Rs272.6 billion, which included Rs172.55 billion for the health sector and Rs64.56 billion for the education sector. 

In addition, infrastructure development was allotted Rs164 billion, including Rs80,8 billion for the roads sector.
