KARACHI: Recently, Karachi Eat Festival 2022 was held in Beach View Park, Clifton, Karachi. The management failed to ensure standard operating procedures (SOPs) amid COVID-19.
They did provide masks and santisers to all those attending but the visitors disregarded the SOPs once inside. As per Syed Murad Ali Shah, Chief Minister of Sindh, the COVID-19 positivity ratio had crossed 31 per cent in Karachi. According to experts, non-compliance with SOPs could be disastrous for Karachi and Pakistan.
Management of Karachi Eat Festival 2022 claimed that they would follow the SOPs. Nonetheless, neither social distancing could be witnessed, nor proper covering of mouth and nose could be seen. The entrance of Karachi Eat Festival 2022 was improper and violated fundamental human rights. Yet, the Government of Sindh had not taken any action against this alleged offence by the organisers of Karachi Eat Festival 2022.
However, a lot of people have raised concerns, wondering whether or not a food festival should be held in a place where COVID-19 cases are on the upswing. As well as the fact that they cannot grasp the reasoning, as has been stated.
The interviewee at the Karachi Eat Festival 2022 expressed his apprehensions with the team of Medical News Group of Publications that there is no sign of social distancing, covering of faces and checking of COVID-19 certificates. He requested that the National Command Operation Center and the Government of Sindh take action organisers to make it clear that the rule of law prevails and would not distinguish between rich and destitute.
