KARACHI- In light of the unreasonable fees layout, Pakistan Medical Association (PMA) expressed their concern over the exorbitant fee structure of medical colleges in Pakistan.
According to the new fee structure, the annual fee of medical students has been set to Rs. 950,000/- per annum. If included insurance, tax and admission fee, it approximately goes up to being more than 1,200,000/-.
Such an amount is beyond the affordability of most of the parents; posing as an unnecessary burden.
Secretary General, Pakistan Medical Association (PMA- Centre), Dr SM Qaisar Sajjad, stated that earlier, the fees of medical colleges was 6,42,000/-
After noticing such a peak, PMA believes in focusing over the quality of medical education and offering improved training, to produce competent doctors in Pakistan, rather than charging such a huge amount from parents.
Dr Qaisar also requested the Chief Justice of Pakistan to review this fee structure and minimize it up to the affordability of people of Pakistan.
