KARACHI: Attempting to uncover alleged corruption among the ranks of the Intelligence Bureau (IB), Iqrar-ul-Hassan, television host and journalist, was detained for hours and subjected to severe types of torture at their Karachi office.
Pictures of Hassan, injured and in torn-up clothes, receiving medical attention on a hospital bed, went viral on Twitter, revealing his plight. As Hassan lay wrapped up in the hospital, his fellow TV journalist Waseem Badami posted a video of him visiting him. His left arm was in a sling.
Electric shocks were even applied to sensitive bodily areas, he alleged. During the torture, Hassan claimed that his shoulder had been dislocated and that he was receiving medical attention.
