New Jersey: Johnson & Johnson has decided to halt the production of their talcum baby powder worldwide. Their new cornstarch version of the product shall take its place in the markets instead, starting next year.
This step has been taken after several legal notices had been received by the company. These were mostly from women who had complained that using the talcum powder gave them mesothelioma, ovarian cancer as well as other forms of malignancies.
Regardless of the numerous lawsuits, Johnson & Johnson claims that their talcum powder is safe and does not cause cancer.
The company says that they have decided to recall their product because of the "misleading talc litigation advertising that caused global confusion and unfounded concern."
