Karachi: The Pharmacy Graduates Association (PGA), with the collaboration of Karachi Institute of Heart Diseases (KIHD), celebrated World Pharmacist Day. The seminar comprised of the views of Dr Zainul Hasnain, Patron in Chief PGA and Director of Pharmacy, Drug Mart Pharmacies regarding the struggle of pharmacists in the industry.
Pharmacists are essential healthcare professionals in society. Dr Riffat Sultana, Executive Director, Karachi Institute of Heart Diseases (KIHD) stated during the event that the purpose of World Pharmacist Day is to encourage activities that promote and advocate the role of pharmacists in improving health in every corner of the world.
Prof Dr Liaquat Raza, Patron PGA, voiced his views, stating that pharmacists together with the physicians, nurses and other medical professionals provide the necessary care for patients.
Prof Dr Abdul Rasheed, a Consultant, Cardiologist announced that pharmacists, physicians and paramedics are fundamental parts of the healthcare system. It is difficult to ignore the contribution of pharmacists in serving the community. Rph Tahmina Ayaz, Head of Pharmacy Department, Karachi Institute of Heart Diseases (KIHD) said that that pharmacists are the pioneering necessity in the medical profession, in terms of providing rational use of medicine, R&D, Pharmacovigilance, dose adjustment and patients counseling.
Prof Dr Ishaq ,Consultant, Cardiologist, Dr Tanvir Ahmad Siddiqui, Member Pharmacy Council of Pakistan, Prof Dr Tanveer Alam, former Director, Drug Regulatory Authority Pakistan (DRAP), Prof D. Shaikh Abdul Khaliq, Hamdard University, DrObaid Ali, DrAdnan Razvi, Director Drug Testing Laboratory Sindh. Dr Sajid Ali, Dr Beena Khan, Manager Pharmacy, Darul Sehat Hospital, Dr Parus Zehra, Manager Pharmacy, Drug Mart Pharmacies addressed the WPD seminar. Dr Rafaya Ahmad Siddiqui & Dr Dua Naz hosted the said event.
