The NICH has been receiving less water from the Karachi Water & Sewerage Board (KWSB) for several days due to unknown reasons. The shortage of water has gravely affected the affairs of the hospital. The shortage of water is also troubling the staff with the handling of emergency surgery cases.
According to sources at the NICH, the curtailed supply of water severely affected the hospital’s smooth functioning; Sindh’s largest pediatric care hospital. They informed that the hospital’s management was trying to approach the KWSB officials for resuming the water supply.
The patients and their attendants are deprived of clean drinking water. The sanitation system of the hospital was also affected due to the shortage of water. The routine cleanliness and other such tasks have also been hindered owing to water scarcity.
Director, National Institute of Child Health (NICH), Prof Dr Jamal Raza, said that there is some problem in the supply of water, and we are trying to sort the issue between the KWSB supply and our internal pumping system out. He said that the management is providing water through water tanks and hoping that the matter would be resolved in a few days.
