Lahore- Punjab Health Minister Prof. Dr Yasmin Rashid recently called a meeting at the regional HQ of CPSP, where she summoned the College of Physicians and Surgeons Pakistan (CPSP) office-bearers and other senior representatives including its president Prof Zafarullah Chaudhry, councillors Prof Khalid Masood Gondal, Prof Aamir Zeman Khan, Prof Mohammad Tayyab, Prof Mahmood Ayaz and Prof Abrar Ashraf.
Referring to ‘intelligence reports’, the minister alleged that the CPSP was hatching conspiratorial designs against the Punjab govt’s initiative: Medical Teaching Institutions (MTI) reforms Act.
Dr Rashid slammed the CPSP officials for provoking young doctors to stage protest demonstration in the major government hospitals of Lahore. She said that the young doctors observed complete strike in those teaching institutions of the provincial capital which were being headed by CPSP-backed senior medics.
The health department has directed over 800 fresh PG trainees to resume duties at these hospitals.
The official further said the health minister ended the meeting on a serious note that the Punjab government would not tolerate such activities in future.
