Sindh decides to hold matches without crowds

KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister (CM), Syed Murad Ali Shah, taking a policy decision, stated that all remaining Pakistan Super league-PSL matches in the National Stadium would be played without spectators.

“It is highly risky to allow spectators to gather in the stadium to witness the matches. We cannot put everyone at risk; therefore, the matches will be held without spectators.”

He took this decision while presiding over a meeting of the Taskforce for Coronavirus at the CM House.

Commissioner Karachi, Iftikhar Shalwani, in his briefing to the CM, said that he had taken strict measures at the stadium. It is very risky to allow such huge gatherings to collect in the stadium, he added.

The Chief Minister said that in such circumstances, matches all over the world were held in closed-door stadiums, i.e., means without spectators. “Therefore, I am taking the decision that spectators will not be allowed in the coming matches, and they will be held in closed-door stadiums,” he said.

He said that he could not put a large number of spectators and their family members at risk. “Let the matches take place without spectators,” he directed the Commissioner.

The Chief Minister further directed the Commissioner Karachi to convey the decision to the PCB authorities immediately.

The Commissioner informed Pakistan Cricket Boar- PCB authorities via phone call, and they welcomed the decision.
