Rafiqi Shaheed Road is the busiest road in the city, according to him, and it is where three of the city's most important institutions are located: Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC), National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases (NICVD), and National Institute of Child Health (NICH). This road has been under construction for the past two weeks, resulting in major traffic congestion, ambulances arriving late to the hospital, and patients suffering from dust.
Prof. Abdullah Muttaqi stated in a statement issued from PIMA House that the road has been demolished in the name of development, yet there are no apparent signs of reconstruction. The general population is also experiencing difficulties, particularly for chest patients, and ambulances arriving at these three institutions in emergencies are experiencing traffic jams owing to road damage, adding that on-duty physicians are also experiencing traffic delays.
He stated that the government should expedite the construction of this route to ease the difficulties of the inhabitants and patients.
