KARACHI: Murad Ali Shah, Chief Minister of Sindh, recently stated that the decision to impose a lockdown and close educational institutions would be made in accordance with the recommendations of the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC).

According to NCOC statistics issued this morning, Karachi's COVID-19 positivity rate reached 28.80 per cent.

COVID-19 infections were spreading quickly, but Murad Ali Shah told journalists in Karachi that the situation was under control because hospitalisations and patients in critical care units (ICU) in the port city were low.

He noted that Karachi had reported the greatest number of COVID-19 cases the day before but claimed that hospital pressure was not growing.

He reiterated, "Whatever strategy we choose, it will be in conjunction with NCOC."

Murtaza Wahab, the Administrator of the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation, had intimated earlier this week that rigorous measures would be used to recede the number of COVID-19 infections that were increasing by the day in Karachi.

Earlier, Karachi Eat Festival by East River Digital was organised amid COVID-19. Nonetheless, management had assured all SOPs would be followed.
