LAHORE: A meeting between leaders of the Pakistan Peoples Party and the leaders of Jamaat-i-Islami was rescheduled owing to the deteriorating health of Asif Ali Zardari.
Asif Ali Zardari, the former President of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, postponed his meeting with Siraj ul Haq, Lead of Jamaat-i-Islami (JI). The meeting was scheduled to address the government's no-trust motion, according to Qaiser Sharif, Secretary Information, JI.
The meeting was set for 7:30 p.m. in Mansoora, the JI's Lahore headquarters. Zardari was slated to pay a visit to the leader and other party leaders, including Raja Pervaiz Ashraf, to enlist JI's support for the opposition's no-confidence resolution against the government.
"7:30 was agreed as a meeting time at JI headquarters. But later in the day, we got to know that Zardari had been shifted to hospital due to severe back pain and was undergoing medical tests," Qaiser Sharif said.
