KMC Sets Up Heatstroke Relief Centers at 13 Hospitals

KARACHI- Medical & Health Services Department of Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) has established 13 Heatstroke Relief Centers at certain health facilities, run by KMC across Karachi.


KMC has setup Heatstroke Centers at Abbasi Shaheed Hospital, Karachi Institute of Heart Diseases, Sarfaraz Rafiqui Shaheed Hospital, Sobhraj Maternity Hospital, Landhi Medical Centre, Spencer Eye Hospital, Landhi Cardiac Centre, Shah Faisal Cardiac Centre, Homeopathic Hospital Nazimabad, Leprosy Hospital Manghopir and a few others.


Senior Director, Medical & Health Services,  KMC, Dr. Birbal Genani, stated that, “Heatstroke Relief Centers have been established in 13 major hospitals of KMC wherein ORS, drips, medicines and staff is posted to provide first aid care to patients affected by scorching heat.”


He further added that these steps were taken after the apparent increase in temperature level in the city of Karachi. He has advised all the citizens to adopt preventive measures including, an increase in water consumption to stay hydrated, wear light colored clothing and avoid unnecessary sun exposure.
