KARACHI: Dr Kerem Kinik, President of the Turkish Red Crescent Society (TRCS), and Sardar Shahid Ahmed Laghari, the Chairman of the Pakistan Red Crescent Society (PRCS), visited flood-affected areas of Sindh and distributed relief items.

This crucial visit comes when Turkey's humanitarian efforts continue on a big scale to support Pakistan's needs, with 12 air shipments already arriving and four more on the way.

A delegation from the Turkish Red Crescent and the Pakistan Red Crescent presented 500 hygiene kits and 500 food packs (each weighing 50 kilogrammes) to needy families in the Sujawal region.

Additional relief goods, including 500 hygiene kits, 500 food packs, and 250 tents, will be provided in Dadu district and other flood-affected districts of Sindh, benefiting over 7,500 worthy individuals.

Dr Kerem Kinik sent condolences to the families who lost loved ones in Pakistan's tragic floods.

Dr Kerem Kinik stated that the Turkish Red Crescent would continue to work closely with the Pakistan Red Crescent to provide the flood victims with utmost relief.

"Relief supplies, including food, cash support, and non-food goods such as tents, hygiene kits, jerrycans, mosquito nets, blankets, and mattresses, have been transported to flood-affected areas of Balochistan," stated President TRCS.
As part of ongoing relief activities, he indicated that more humanitarian aid and relief supplies would be gradually supplied to Sindh.

During his visit to a free medical camp at Sujawal, he praised the Sindh branch of the Pakistan Red Crescent for its work.

President Dr Kerem Kinik stated that the Turkish Red Crescent would soon arrange free medical camps to help identify and cure 6,000 people.

The Chairman of the Pakistani Red Crescent, Sardar Shahid Ahmad Laghari, hailed the Turkish Red Crescent for its tremendous support and remarked that Turkey has always assisted Pakistan in times of need.

According to him, more than 33 million people in Pakistan have been impacted by floods, and many have been relocated because their homes have been destroyed, their animals have been slaughtered, and their crops have been ruined; they are also suffering from health issues.

The Chairman stated, "We hope that the Turkish Red Crescent and other partners of the Red Crescent organisation would assist us in providing fast aid to those in need."

In addition, he lauded the efforts of the Pakistani Army, Navy, NDMA, and government apparatus in deploying all available resources for flood relief operations.

Samar Ali Khan, Chairman of the Sindh Branch of the Pakistan Red Crescent, welcomed the TRCS group and informed them of the ongoing response to flooding in Sindh province.
PRCS-Sindh has already delivered thousands of relief goods in Thatta, Badin, Dadu, Shikarpur, Larkana, Jacobabad, Hyderabad, and Mirpurkhas, according to him.

He added that PRCS would deploy its mobile health units, establish additional water purification plants, and provide portable water filters, date bars, and nutrition supplement sachets to flood-affected families.

Previously, Dr Kerem Kinik, Alper Kucuk, Director General, TRCS,  and Dr Adeel Nawaz, Secretary General, PRCS, as well as others, visited the PRCS Emergency Operation Center in Karachi. Kanwar Waseem, secretary of the PRC-Sindh, provided an overview of the flood situation throughout Pakistan and Sindh in particular.
