KARACHI- Recently, a Measles Awareness Walk was held at Korangi, led by Project Director Expanded Programme on Immunization (EPI) Sindh, Dr Zahoor Baloch, in order to create awareness in general public.
The awareness walk was attended by Town Health Officer Shah Faisal Town Dr Ahmed Ali Shaikh, along with vaccinators, social mobilizers, lady health workers, and citizens. The participants carried banners and placards about the vaccine-preventable disease: measles.
Addressing the participants, Dr Zahoor Baloch said that the measles epidemic was claiming lives that could have been easily saved. Vaccinations would help to build immunity of children against this potentially-perilous disease. He urged the parents to coordinate with vaccinators in upcoming measles vaccination campaign to save the future of Pakistan.
EPI Sindh is launching measles vaccination campaigns across Sindh province from October 15th; the campaigns will continue till October 27th, wherein target 7.3 million children, from 9 months up to 5 years of age, will be vaccinated.
