HYDERABAD: Faculty members, officers, staff, and students of the Liaquat University of Medical & Health Sciences (LUMHS), Jamshoro, staged a protest rally on campus to denounce the demands made by residents of nearby villages for a thoroughfare through the university grounds.
The rally was organised in response to protests by villagers demanding an access route that would cut through the campus. University authorities argue that such a passage could compromise the security of thousands of national and international students residing in the varsity hostels.
The LUMHS campus has been fortified with a boundary wall, and all entry points have been sealed to mitigate previous security issues, including theft, unauthorised access, and incidents of harassment involving female students. University management has cited these past incidents to stress the necessity of maintaining strict security measures.
