LAHORE: In an alarming development, the Punjab health department confirmed that 16 new dengue cases have been reported across the province in the last 24 hours.
A handout issued by the department says that three dengue patients are under treatment at Kalar Saidan hospitals and two at Taxila hospitals.
The department also reported that 50 cases have been registered for violations of dengue SOPs, with fines totaling Rs40,000.
Dengue is a mosquito-borne viral disease rapidly spreading worldwide, transmitted by female mosquitoes mainly of the species Aedes aegypti and, to a lesser extent, Ae. albopictus.
