Major fake drug scandal exposed in Sindh: Drug testing lab confirms counterfeit medicines

KARACHI: A major fake drug scandal has rocked Sindh after the Sindh Drug Testing Laboratory (SDTL) confirmed the presence of counterfeit and substandard medicines being sold across the province. The laboratory’s investigation has revealed that multiple medicines from at least seven companies were found to be fake, posing a severe threat to public health.

According to SDTL Chief Adnan Rizvi, the counterfeit pharmaceutical products were not linked to any registered companies, indicating that the manufacturers do not legally exist.

The findings have raised serious concerns regarding pharmaceutical safety and regulatory oversight in Sindh. Health authorities are now under pressure to crack down on illegal drug manufacturers and enhance drug quality monitoring mechanisms.

The Sindh Drug Testing Laboratory is urging health regulators, law enforcement agencies, and the government to take immediate action against fake drug networks to prevent further risks to public health.
