LAHORE: The Punjab government has disbursed funds amounting to Rs88.6 million for the reconstruction and refurbishment of the nursing college and hostel at Amir Ud Din Medical College (AMC), Lahore General Hospital (LGH).
Of this allocation, Rs76m has been designated for the nursing hostel and Rs12.6m for the nursing college, said Amir ud Din Medical College Principal Prof Al-Fareed Zafar during his visit to the nursing college, where he engaged with nursing instructors and students.
The nursing college Principal Ms Maimoona Sattar was also present at this occasion.
Prof Zafar said the nursing college and hostel buildings at the LGH were originally constructed in 1962, urgently requiring funding to renovate for renovation to modernize them according to contemporary standards.
He said that upon completion of the renovation, state-of-the-art lecture rooms and a well-equipped library, offering an optimal educational environment, will be made available to the students.
Emphasizing the crucial role of nursing staff in delivering quality medical services in hospitals, Prof Zafar said that enhancing facilities at the nursing college will not only improve the quality of education but also enhance the efficiency of faculty members.
During his interaction with students at the nursing college, he advised them to focus on their professional education and training. He said that nursing students are not only provided training and stipends but also offered free hostel accommodations to pursue this noble profession. Upon completion of their four-year degree program, nursing graduates directly enter Grade 16 positions, he added.
He reiterated that this profession is dedicated to serving humanity and those who pursue it receive not only the gratitude of people but also find success in both this world and the hereafter.
