Baqai Dental College celebrates a Talent Hunt - “Rang' 2014”

As it is said that history repeats itself. Two great thinkers, Dr Talha M. Siddiqui (Vice Principal of Baqai Dental College) and Dr Ain-ul- brought up this cliché in real by presenting “Rang’14 –Time to dig up the mine of talent”. This Talent Booster comprised of 102 volunteers, more than 100 participants and an entire month of hard work. All this was done for this celebrated 3-day event which was a truly amazing show of inherent talent.

From “Sayeen tou Sayeen” mixed with astounding beat boxing, to a unique “shadow dance”, from hilarious “Comedy Nights gigs” to patriotic plays paying tribute to Itazaz Hussain, from a poignant act “Bandeya” to rousing act “Silent Water”, from mad flash mobs to crazy old school 60’s plays. Play inspired by Anwar Maqsood’s “Angan Terha” to Baqai’s crazy Neem Hakeem’s and MUCH MUCH MORE!

Rang’14 was subdivided into 3 categories:

BAQAI IDOL

This category provided a platform for the students to show their vocal skills in front of a jam-packed auditorium. Amber Farooq (PharmD) won the title of Baqai Idol. Renowned artists; Muhammad Ifraheem and Ustad Bashir Khan were invited as the judges for selecting the Baqai Idol.

BAQAI THEATRE

This two-day talent activity was the most enjoyed feature of the whole show, as per the views of the audience. It provided a platform for the students to show their acting, Directing and Script writing skills.

The Baqai Theatre judges on day-1 included: Shehzad Raza, Shahzad Ali Khan, Tahir Kazmi and Kamran Jeelani. On the Day-2 the panel of judges comprised of: Faisal Qureshi, Aijaz Aslam, Ali Salman and Mohsin Talat.

The winner of Best Script Award was Zubair Humayun Shah for writing “Khayal Rakhna”. While, Hiba Rehman (BDS) won the Best Director Award for “Bandeya” and Afsah Salahuddin (MBBS) won the Award with “Neem Hakeem Khatra-e-Jaan”. “Shugal-e-Azam” (PharmD) won the Award for Best Comic Act. The Best Presentation was: Ordinary day, Love stoned (Mime) by MBBS. Afzal Patel (PharmD) and Hassaan Arshad (MBBS) became the Best Actors and Syeda Reda Zehra Zaidi (MBBS) and Sarah Khan (MBBS) were the Best Actresses.

BAQAI GOT TALENT

Every person has some hidden talent which usually goes unrecognized and cannot be categorized, but Baqai Medical University made a category for such students as well. It provided a platform for the students to show any type of skills they possess. Some of the best performances in these open categories included:

“Football freestyle” by Naqeebullah & Co. (BDS)

“Shadow Dance” by Daniyal Hussain (BDS) and Samara Rais (BDS)

Best all rounder: Daniyal Hussain (BDS)

Best host throughout the show: Aamir Habib (BDS)

The judges for the “Baqai Got talent” activity were: Brig. General Aslam and Yasmeen Badar.

The prominent individuals present at RANG’14 included: Mr. & Mrs. Baqai, Shoaib Baqai, Prof. Dr. Jameel, Principal of Baqai Medical College, Principal of Baqai Dental College - Dr Kashif Ikram and Brig. General Aslam.

Each and every spectator present in Baqai Medical University’s Auditorium walked off with a whole bunch delightful memories and cherished the awesome performances.
