Islamabad reports 14 dengue cases

ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) administration has intensified its efforts to curb the spread of dengue after 14 cases were reported across 604 locations.
The situation was reviewed during a critical meeting chaired by Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Usman Ashraf, according to an ICT administration spokesperson.
During the meeting, the ADC instructed district officials to step up efforts to control the spread of dengue, particularly by targeting mosquito larvae breeding in the federal capital.
Officials reported that inspections were carried out at 604 locations, leading to the detection of larvae at 174 sites in rural areas and 430 in urban areas.
The crackdown included action against several business centers and construction sites where larvae were found, with several individuals arrested for failing to comply with dengue Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
Mr Ashraf stressed the need for strict enforcement of dengue SOPs across the city, to intensify efforts against the breeding of dengue mosquitoes.
The meeting was attended by assistant commissioners and health department, who are now focused on implementing preventive measures effectively in both rural and urban areas.
