KARACHI: Omair Sana Foundation (OSF) celebrated birthday of Farman Ali, who has donated his blood 70 times so far, for the Thalassaemia affected people. The 42nd birthday of Ali was celebrated at OSF House. On the occasion, energetic Ali vowed to continue his struggle for spreading the trend of donating blood among youth of Pakistan.
He said that he has been donating blood since 1996. “When I donated my blood for the first time in my life, I came to know that a single bottle of donated blood saves three lives, since then I have donated blood some 70 times,” he said.
He added that 10 million unit of bloods can be obtained annually in Pakistan if all youngsters decide to donate one pint on the occasion of their birthdays.
Joint Secretary OSF ObaidHashmi hailed the role of Ali and paid a rich tribute to him. Terming Ali an asset for the society, Hashmi said that the entire country is proud of Farman Ali. He added that Ali had established a record of donating blood for a noble cause.
Farman Ali is a beacon of hope for the society in general and youth in particular, he said and added that the ratio of blood donation would be increased by 100 percent if the youngsters agreed to adopt the same spirit and zeal of Farman Ali.
