KCR Strategizes to Restrict Cancer Spread

KARACHI- In order to control the increasing prevalence of cancer, the Karachi Cancer Registry (KCR) has been launched to collect data of various cancer patients, and device a comprehensive strategy to reduce the number of cases.


While addressing a press conference, the Patron Karachi Cancer Registry, Dr. Huma Qureshi discussed about the increasing cases of Oral and Breast Cancer within Karachi, due to consumption of tobacco and associated products, sedentary lifestyle, excessive intake of junk and fast food. She informed the audience and media personnel that KCR will collect data of cancer patients from both, public and private health facilities of Karachi.


Furthermore, she added that Oral Cancer is commonly seen in males, whereas Breast Cancer is seen in females.


She assured that the collection of data will aid in devising a comprehensive strategy and will help in controlling the spread of this deadly disease.


Prof Dr. Tariq Siddiqui, Dr. Shahid Pervaiz, Dr. Adnan Jabbar and Prof Dr. Asif Qureshi were also present on this occasion.


Moreover, the experts demanded of the Provincial Government to impose strict ban on production and selling of betel nut and quid, Mainpuri, Naswar, Gutka and other associated products to prevent the citizens from developing cancer.
