YDA Sindh urges the federal government to abolish PMC 

KARACHI: The Young Doctors Association (YDA) Sindh recently held a protest demonstration against the recently passed Pakistan Medical Commission (PMC) Bill and demanded the restoration of the Pakistan Medical & Dental Council (PMDC)

The major protest was held at the Najamuddin Auditorium of the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC). The protesters were led by Chairman, YDA, Sindh, Dr Omer Sultan, President, YDA, Sindh, Dr Yaseen Umrani, General Secretary, Dr Mehboob Noonari, Vice-President, Dr Waris Jakhrani, and others.

The protester termed the PMC Bill is a black law and urged the federal government to abolish this controversial regulatory body. They said that medical graduates and practising doctors would face many difficulties due to the PMC in the future.

The doctors said that this step would deteriorate the standard of medical education and create problems for doctors serving abroad after the PMDC is abolished. They said that the PMC would give private medical and dental colleges unlimited autonomy in fixing fees and admitting students.

The young doctors demanded the federal government to abolish the PMC and restore the PMDC on an urgent basis to save medical education in Pakistan.
